1. Development of madrasa trainers:
ICRD will expand its "master trainer" program for selected graduates of its workshops. These master trainers, in turn, will train madrasa administrators and senior faculty who have not been previously involved in the process of change.
2. Establishment of a certification program for madrasa faculty:
ICRD is creating a Madrasa Teacher Training Institute that will involve developing specialized teaching certification programs for madrasa educators in cooperation with Pakistani universities. This will create an unprecedented synergy between madrasas and institutions of higher learning.

3. US study visit program:
Selected madrasa teachers involved in the “master trainer” program will visit the United States to study American Islamic education, civil society, and culture. This initiative will build upon ICRD's successful facilitation of a visit to the United States in 2007 by Pakistan's top madrasa oversight board to study American religious education and culture and to engage in dialogue with selected American leaders.
4. Special training for female teachers of girls' madrasas:
Based on the success of the male madrasa training programs, teachers of female madrasas are requesting similar training for themselves as well. This initiative would begin with: (1) training workshops for female administrators and faculty, (2) "master trainer" workshops, and (3) workshops by master trainers for other female madrasa teachers.
5. Development of vocational training centers within madrasas:
ICRD is engaged in conversations with several madrasa leaders about the possibility of establishing Vocational Training Centers within their schools in order to equip madrasa students with employable skills and to provide related assistance in securing employment upon graduation. Providing madrasa youth with the opportunity to acquire such skills and with the possibility of eventually developing their own businesses will give them hope for the future and make them much less vulnerable to exploitation by extremists.
